What we do on Centurion equipment
- Sliding gate motors: the D-series, from the D2 Turbo and the D5-Evo to the D3, D5 and D6 SMART and the D10. Control cards, gearboxes, chargers, batteries, limits and racks.
- Swing gate motors: the Vantage, Vector2 and the R3 and R5 arms.
- Garage door motors: the SDO4 for sectional and tip-up doors and the RDO for roll-up doors.
- Access: NOVA remotes and receivers, SMARTGUARD keypads, Photon beams and the G-SPEAK ULTRA GSM intercom.
All our spare parts are genuine, and every repair carries our six-month guarantee on our repairs. Repairs Plus is an independent installer and repairer. We are not the manufacturer.

Common Centurion faults and their causes
A Centurion D5-Evo or D10 says a lot through its status light, on the controller or on an indicator wired to your intercom. Centurion's user guide gives these signals:
| Status light | Meaning | Usual cause |
|---|---|---|
| Two flashes every two seconds | No mains | A tripped breaker or isolator, or a fault on the supply |
| Three flashes every two seconds | Battery low | A flat or tired battery, or mains that has been off too long |
| Four flashes every two seconds | Multiple collisions | A gate that drags, or something in its way |
| One flash every two seconds | Courtesy lights on | Normal |
| Slow flash, or fast flash | Opening, or closing | Normal |
Battery low. When the battery drops below 10.5 V on a D5-Evo, or 21 V on a D10, Centurion's Battery Low Protection lets the gate finish its cycle, closes it and shuts the motor down until the battery recovers. If the mains is on and it keeps happening, the battery is usually worn out. Centurion says its maintenance-free batteries should give at least three years; we test and replace them, see gate motor batteries.
Collisions. Four flashes almost always point at the gate rather than the motor: wheels or guide rollers that don't turn freely, a track full of stones, or a rack pressing down on the pinion.
No mains. Check the breaker or isolator that feeds the motor. A fault on the supply itself is a job for a registered electrician.
After a storm. Lightning and power surges kill control cards. Centurion builds in lightning protection but says it only works with a proper earth, and the manufacturer's warranty doesn't cover lightning damage, so a storm-damaged card has to be repaired or replaced.
Each model's full fault table is on its manual page: start with the D5-Evo fault finding page.
Keeping a Centurion motor running
Centurion's user guide gives owners a short maintenance list. Most of the faults above start where it isn't followed:
- Keep the track clear of stones, dirt and anything else in the way.
- Make sure every roller turns freely.
- Put the motor on manual and push the gate along its rail: it shouldn't catch on walls or pillars.
- Check the wheels and guide rollers for wear; on a busy gate they need replacing regularly.
- Check that the rack is fixed firmly and doesn't press down on the motor's pinion anywhere along the gate.
- Cut back plants around the motor and the rack.
- Make sure the key still turns the camlock, with a little lubricant if it's stiff.
- Keep insects and dust out of the motor housing.
How to put the motor on manual is on the Centurion manual page. Anything inside the controller is our job.

Centurion garage door motors: SDO4 and RDO
Centurion makes two families of garage door motor, and they suit different doors:
- SDO4 and SDO4 SMART: rail-mounted motors for sectional and tip-up doors. See the Centurion SDO4 manual.
- RDO and RDO Digital: motors for roll-up doors, fitted at the door's drum. See the Centurion RDO manual and coding RDO remotes.
Both have a manual release for power cuts, and both depend on a door that is balanced and runs freely by hand. A garage motor that strains, stops part-way or reverses is often telling you about the door, its springs or its tracks, which we repair too: see garage door repairs.

Remotes, keypads and the G-SPEAK
Centurion's NOVA remotes are coded into a NOVA receiver, either on the motor's control card or in a separate multichannel receiver. We code new remotes, delete lost ones and replace receivers; the steps are on Centurion remote programming.
SMARTGUARD keypads, wired or the wireless SMARTGUARDair, open the gate with a code for visitors, staff and family without remotes: see the SMARTGUARD keypad page. For a gate intercom, Centurion's G-SPEAK ULTRA is a GSM unit, which we install and repair along with the other intercom brands on intercoms.

Questions
Centurion questions
How do I troubleshoot a Centurion gate motor problem?
Start with the status light: two flashes every two seconds means no mains, three means a low battery and four means repeated collisions. Then check the breaker that feeds the motor, look along the track for stones or anything in the way, and put the motor on manual to feel whether the gate drags. See the fault table.
What are the common error codes for Centurion gate motors?
On a D5-Evo or D10 the status light gives the first answer, by its number of flashes every two seconds, and the controller's display spells the fault out, for example "Battery Low". SMART models are set up from Centurion's phone app, and each model's manual page lists its own signals. Read the D5-Evo fault finding page.
How do I change the battery on a Centurion gate motor?
The battery sits inside the motor housing, which Centurion warns can contain high voltages, so we replace it rather than talk you through it. A D5-Evo takes one 12 V 7.2 Ah battery and a D10 two; Centurion expects at least three years from a healthy one. See gate motor batteries.
How much does a new Centurion gate motor cost?
In shops, a Centurion D5-Evo SMART kit is about R7 500–R8 000 without installation. Our installed kits are listed above with what's in each box. Prices checked October 2026. Compare the kits.
Where can I find the manual for the Centurion garage door opener?
Centurion's garage motors are the SDO4, for sectional and tip-up doors, and the RDO, for roll-up doors. Each has its own page with the steps in plain English and the official PDF. Go to the SDO4 manual.
