Finding the make and model

The quickest way to a right first visit is the label. Before you book, look for:

  • On a gate motor: the maker's name moulded or printed on the cover, and a sticker with the model, usually on the housing or under the cover. A sliding gate motor's control board often carries the model too.
  • On a garage motor: the name on the motor head on the ceiling, or on the drive unit at the end of a roll-up door's axle.
  • On an electric fence: the energiser on the wall, which names its maker and model on the front, and the keypad indoors if there is one.
  • On an intercom: the handset inside, which names its maker more clearly than the unit at the gate.
  • On CCTV: the label on the back or underside of the recorder.

A clear photo of that label, sent with the job card or on WhatsApp, tells us which parts to bring and which manual to read before we arrive.

Remotes belong to their brand

Each maker uses its own remote system, and a remote is learnt into the receiver it will work. Centurion uses its NOVA code-hopping remotes; ET's newer receivers use ET BLU MIX, which also takes the older ET BLUE remotes; Gemini remotes are learnt with a button on the motor's own control board. So the make of the motor, or of a separate receiver if there is one, decides which remote to buy. Our pages on gate remotes and garage door remotes explain how they're added and removed.

Older and discontinued models

Plenty of motors in Gauteng have outlived their own production run. They can usually be kept going: batteries, remotes, racks, pinions and beams are made in standard forms, and many parts are shared across a maker's range. What can run short is the part unique to one model, typically a control board or a gearbox component. When that happens, we tell you plainly, and price a current motor from the same maker beside the repair, so you can decide with both numbers in front of you. Our guide to repairing or replacing a gate motor sets out what to weigh.

The brands we install new

We repair all the makes on this page. For new motors, our installed kits come from Centurion, ET and Gemini:

  • Centurion D5-Evo SMART sliding gate kit
  • ET Drive 500 sliding gate kit
  • Gemini 12 V DC slider kit
  • Centurion Vantage 500 double swing kit
  • ET Wingo single swing kit
  • ET Wingo double swing kit
  • ET DC Blue Advanced roll-up kit
  • ET DC Blue Advanced sectional / tip-up kit
  • Centurion RDO Digital roll-up kit

Each comes with our 1-year guarantee on every motor kit we supply and install. What's in each kit and its installed price are on gate motor prices and garage door motor prices.

Independent, and genuine parts

Repairs Plus is an independent installer and repairer. We are not the manufacturer.

That means we work on the equipment you already have, whoever installed it. All our spare parts are genuine. Manuals for the common models are in the manual library.

Questions

Questions about brands

My motor's brand isn't on this page. Can you still help?

Send us a photo of the motor on WhatsApp and we'll tell you whether it's one we work on before anything is booked. See the full list.

Can you repair a motor someone else installed?

Yes. We work on the equipment already on your gate, door or wall, whoever put it in, as long as it's a brand we work on. See the brand pages.

Which brands of gate motor do you install?

Our installed gate motor kits are Centurion (the D5-Evo SMART sliding kit and the Vantage 500 double swing kit), ET (the Drive 500 and the Wingo swing kits) and Gemini (the 12 V DC slider). See the kits.

Will a remote from one brand work my motor?

Usually not: each maker uses its own remote system, learnt into its own receiver. ET's newer receivers do take the older ET BLUE remotes as well as ET BLU MIX. Read about remotes.

Are the spare parts you fit genuine?

All our spare parts are genuine, matched to the brand and model you have. Read more.
