Centurion D6 SMART manual: the 24 V SMART slider for heavier gates
The Centurion D6 SMART is the step up from the D5-Evo SMART: a 24 V sliding gate motor on two batteries, for gates up to 600 kg, with a faster top speed and a power-saving mode for long power cuts. It is set up from a phone like the rest of the SMART range. This is its manual in plain English, with how it compares to the D5 and Centurion's own PDFs.

D6 SMART+ specifications
| Item | D6 SMART+ |
|---|---|
| Heaviest gate | 600 kg |
| Longest gate | 100 m, depending on the push force needed |
| Supply | 100 to 240 V AC |
| Motor and batteries | 24 V, running off two 12 V 7 Ah batteries |
| Charger | 1.3 A at 27.6 V |
| Operations a day | 150 |
| Duty cycle, mains present | 50% |
| Starting and running push force | 30 kgf and 17 kgf at most |
| Speed | Up to 35 m a minute, about 30 at its working load |
| Accessory supply | 24 V, 3 A, plus four 100 mA outputs and two pulsed 3 A outputs |
| Wireless | Bluetooth Low Energy and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi |
| Remotes | 1,500 |
| Weather rating | IP55 |
The housing is a little taller than the D5-Evo's, about 373 mm against 334 mm. The original D6 SMART has the same 600 kg, 150 operations and 30 and 17 kgf in Centurion's earlier SMART manual, from a 110 to 240 V supply and without Wi-Fi.

D5-Evo SMART or D6 SMART: the real differences
On paper the two look close: both are domestic SMART sliders with the same starting and running push force and the same 150 operations a day. Centurion's tables show where they part:
| D5-Evo SMART+ | D6 SMART+ | |
|---|---|---|
| Heaviest gate | 500 kg | 600 kg |
| Longest gate | 20 m | 100 m |
| System voltage | 12 V, one battery | 24 V, two batteries |
| Top speed | Up to 24 m a minute | Up to 35 m a minute |
| Speed at working load | About 19 m a minute | About 30 m a minute |
| Power-saving mode in Centurion's standby table | Not listed | Yes |
| Accessory outputs | 12 V | 24 V, with more of them |
| SMART PowerPack (mains drive) | Not available | Available |
So the D6 makes sense for a gate that's heavier, longer or simply slow to open on a D5, and for a home where waiting at the gate in the street is the worry: half again as fast, it spends less time open. For a gate within 500 kg and 20 m the D5-Evo SMART does the job, and the lightest gates suit the D3 SMART.
Power cuts: normal and power-saving mode
The D6 is the first SMART slider with two operating modes for the battery: Normal, at up to 30 m a minute, and Power Saving, which slows the gate to 15 m a minute and stretches the batteries much further. Centurion's figures for a 4 m gate without accessories:
| Gate and mode | Over half a day | Over a full day |
|---|---|---|
| Light gate (7 kgf), power saving | 209 | 183 |
| Light gate (7 kgf), normal | 102 | 79 |
| Heavier gate (17 kgf), power saving | 96 | 87 |
| Heavier gate (17 kgf), normal | 70 | 59 |
Centurion also lists the figures for 7 Ah, 28 W batteries, which give fewer runs, down to 30 over a full day for a heavy gate in normal mode. Two lessons for a long outage: switch to power saving, and keep the gate running freely, because a gate that needs 17 kgf instead of 7 can halve the runs you get. We test and replace the battery pair together: see gate motor batteries.

Add-ons that suit a D6
Centurion's ancillaries list shows what can be added to a SMART+ motor, and the D6 takes more of them than the D3 or D5-Evo:
- SMART PowerPack: runs the gate directly from the mains for busy sites, with optional battery backup. Not available for the D3 or D5-Evo SMART+.
- SMART sirens: wired and wireless sirens that work with the SMART range (not the D3).
- Photon SMART beams: fully wireless infrared beams, which Centurion recommends on every SMART installation.
- G-ULTRA: a GSM module for opening and monitoring the gate from a mobile phone. See the G-ULTRA manual.
- The theft-deterrent cage and padlock, which fits the D3, D5-Evo and D6 SMART. See anti-theft brackets.
- A solar supply, in place of the mains charger, on Centurion's advice for the site.
The four low-current outputs and two 3 A outputs at 24 V are what make room for these: lights, a siren, a gate lock or a GSM unit can each have their own.
Setup, remotes and the apps
A D6 SMART is commissioned in the installer's MyCentsys Pro app, which runs the automatic limit setup, and owners change their own settings, add NOVA remotes and phones, set ChronoGuard rules and, on a SMART+, connect it to Wi-Fi in the MyCentsys app. A phone with Bluetooth Low Energy is needed: an iPhone 6s or newer on iOS 13, or Android 8.0 or newer. How each app works is on the Centurion SMART app page, and the features they set are on the D5 SMART page.
The mechanical setup is the same as on the D5-Evo SMART: a foundation plate, end stops that can stop the gate at full speed, anti-lift brackets, and a rack sitting just clear of the pinion. At 35 m a minute, solid end stops matter more on a D6 than on any slower motor. A new mains supply to the motor is a job for a registered electrician.
When a D6 SMART misbehaves
Most D6 faults we see are the gate and the batteries, not the electronics:
- Short runs or no runs in a power cut. The two batteries work in series, so one weak battery drags the pair down; both get tested.
- The gate stops and reverses. The collision sensing has felt resistance: a wheel, guide roller, track or rack that drags. Put the motor on manual and slide the gate by hand.
- It stops short or overruns. The position sensor or origin magnet, or end stops that have moved.
- The app won't connect. Stand near the motor with Bluetooth on; on a SMART+, check the Wi-Fi it was connected to hasn't changed.
Call us for anything inside the motor. We repair D6 SMART control cards, chargers, position sensors and gearboxes, fit cages, beams and sirens, and replace battery pairs. All our spare parts are genuine, and every repair carries our six-month guarantee on our repairs.

Questions
Centurion D6 SMART questions
What is the main difference between the Centurion D5 and D6 gate motors?
The voltage: the D6 is a 24 V motor on two batteries, the D5-Evo a 12 V motor on one. That gives the D6 a heavier gate limit (600 kg against 500 kg), a longer gate, a higher top speed and a power-saving mode for long power cuts. Compare them.
What is the difference between Centurion D5 and D6?
In daily use, mostly speed and stamina: the D6 SMART+ opens at up to 35 m a minute against the D5-Evo SMART+'s 24, and its two batteries with power-saving mode give far more runs in a long outage. Both take 150 operations a day. See the standby figures.
What are the specifications of the Centurion D6 SMART gate motor?
Sliding gates up to 600 kg, 24 V on two 12 V 7 Ah batteries, 30 kgf starting and 17 kgf running push force, up to 35 m a minute, 150 operations a day, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the SMART+, 1,500 remotes and IP55. See the specifications.
How to reset Centurion D6 smart gate motor?
There's no button reset in Centurion's SMART manuals: settings, remotes and limits are changed in the MyCentsys apps, and an installer can run the setup again in MyCentsys Pro. A D6 that has stopped is more often a battery pair, the gate dragging or a beam. See the fault checks.
