Gate and garage repairs in Kempton Park

Kempton Park is the airport's home town: suburbs, industry and runways side by side, and smallholdings out to the north-east. We repair and install gate motors, garage door motors, electric fences, intercoms, CCTV and steel fencing across all of it, and fit the spare parts that keep them going.

Kempton Park and the areas around it. Every area we cover

A town that grew around a farm and an airport

Kempton Park started in 1903, when Karl Friedrich Wolff cut part of his farm Zuurfontein into 216 residential stands and named the new town Kempten, after his birthplace in Bavaria; the name was soon anglicised. Half a century later the country's main airport was built next door, and it is still here as O. R. Tambo International Airport. Kempton Park became a city in 1992, and the 2011 Census counted 171 575 people in 53 777 households over about 149 km².

That history shows in the work we do here:

  • Suburbs of houses, such as Van Riebeeck Park, Cresslawn, Terenure and Kempton Park West, where the gate, the garage and the fence all come with the home and its owner.
  • Smallholdings to the north-east, where the suburbs give way to open country: long driveways, heavier gates and boundaries far longer than a suburban wall.
  • Industry and logistics, from Spartan's factories to the businesses that serve the airport, with yard gates, palisade and cameras that work all day.

Spare parts, fitted on the visit

Spare parts come up often in Kempton Park's searches: a battery, a remote, a pinion, a spring. We'd rather fit the part than sell it over a counter, because most of them only work once they're set up for your motor or door:

  • Batteries for gate and garage motors, tested under load first, so you don't buy one you didn't need.
  • Remotes, coded to your receiver before we leave.
  • Pinions, rack and gearbox parts for sliding gate motors that run but don't move the gate.
  • Springs, cables and guides for garage doors, which hold the door's weight and are never a do-it-yourself job.
  • Controllers and chargers, often after a storm, replaced only once the old one has been tested.

All our spare parts are genuine, and every repair carries our six-month guarantee on our repairs.

Motorising a roll-up door

If your roll-up door has only ever been lifted by hand, a motor can usually go on it, but only once the door passes the test Centurion sets in its RDO Digital installation manual: no more than about 15 kg of effort to lift or lower it, the same effort both ways, and it stays put when you let go of it at waist to chest height, moving no more than about 100 mm. A door that fails gets its springs and guides put right first.

The motor then fits at one end of the drum and turns it directly. Our roll-up kits, fitted with battery back-up and remotes, are the Centurion RDO Digital roll-up kit at R3 899 and the ET DC Blue Advanced roll-up kit at R4 399. Prices checked October 2026. Your exact price is set in a free quote before any work starts. No call-out fee when we do the work. If no work is done, a R650 call-out fee applies.

How the doors work, and what goes wrong with them, is on roll-up garage doors.

Where in Kempton Park we work

We cover Kempton Park from the town centre and the suburbs either side of the R21 to the smallholdings in the north-east, and the industrial areas around the airport and in Spartan. Our Glen Marais page covers that suburb and its neighbours on their own.

Kempton Park sits at the western end of the East Rand. Boksburg is to the south, down the R21; Benoni to the east; Edenvale to the south-west, along the R24; and Midrand to the north-west. All of the East Rand is on our East Rand page.

Booking a technician in Kempton Park

The job card on this page has the East Rand selected, which includes Kempton Park; put your street in the address. Say what's wrong, or what you'd like installed, and add a photo of the motor, the door or the energiser. On a smallholding, a photo of the whole gate and a note of how far it is from the house helps us plan the job before we arrive.

Same-day repairs happen here whenever the day's bookings allow, and the 24/7 emergency repairs across Gauteng are for a gate stuck open, a garage door that won't close or a fence that won't stop alarming: tick "It's urgent". No call-out fee when we do the work. If no work is done, a R650 call-out fee applies.

Questions

Questions from Kempton Park

Do you sell gate and garage spare parts in Kempton Park?

We supply them fitted rather than over a counter: batteries, remotes, pinions, springs, cables, controllers and chargers, set up for your motor or door on the visit. That way the part is the right one and it works before we leave. See the spares we fit.

Can my old roll-up door take a motor?

Usually, if it lifts with no more than about 15 kg of effort and stays put when let go at waist height. If it's heavy or drops, the springs are set or replaced first, and then the motor goes on. Read about motorising a roll-up door.

Do you work on smallholdings outside Kempton Park?

Yes, on the smallholdings to the north-east of the town: long gates, heavier motors and long fences. Send a photo of the gate's full length when you book so we bring the right motor. See where we work.

How soon can someone come out in Kempton Park?

Same-day repairs are possible whenever the day's bookings allow, and the 24/7 emergency repairs across Gauteng cover the urgent ones. Tick "It's urgent" on the job card if it can't wait. Book a technician.
