Gate motor and garage door repairs in Dainfern

Dainfern was founded in 1985 on the outskirts of Fourways, around the old Fourways Golf Course, and became South Africa's first gated golf estate. Its course was designed by Gary Player, and the estate's 320 acres hold about 1,200 houses in villages such as Sherwood, Hampstead, Highgate, Montagu and Riverwood. The Dainfern Homeowners Association has run it from 2000. The 2011 Census counted 6 601 people over 4.08 km². Outside the walls, Broadacres and Chartwell are its neighbours, with Riverbend, Maroeladal and North Champagne Estates nearby, and we work in those too.

On an estate, the visit starts at the gate. When you book, choose "complex / estate" as the property type and tell us your village and house number, so the technician arrives expecting the gatehouse and you can authorise the visit in the way the estate asks. Doing that up front saves the technician, and you, from waiting at the boom.

The estate's own entrance gates, booms and perimeter belong to the homeowners' association. We work on those only when the association asks us to. Inside the walls, what we fix is yours: the garage doors and their motors, any gate within your property, the intercom and the remotes.

In a gated estate, the garage door can be the main way into the house, which makes a door that won't open or close more than an inconvenience. The common faults are the same as anywhere:

• A door that's suddenly heavy, from a broken spring: stop using the motor and leave the spring to us.
• A door that starts to close and goes back up, usually beams knocked out of line or something in the way.
• A motor that does nothing, from a flat battery, a tripped plug point or a board damaged by a storm.
• Remotes that have stopped, or a new car that needs one.

Estates often have rules about what can change on the outside of a house. Replacing a motor inside the garage rarely touches them; a new garage door, a new gate or a visible change to a boundary can. If you're planning one of those, check with the estate first, and we'll fit the motor once the change is approved.
